Besides the Boston Bruins, what does anyone really know what exactly a bruin is? After a concise research project, a bruin is a bear, mostly used in children’s tales and fables. But let’s be honest, did anyone know what a bruin was before this?
I bring this up to compare the Boston Bruins to the Washington Capitals, as they are playing tonight. Most people know what a capital is, a city or a letter. Along with the Caps as they come to Beantown tonight is a rocky record as of late, but a red hot 36 year-old who leads the NHL in total points. Alex Ovechkin just cannot be stopped this year. by any team, including the Bruins. As long as the other older guys remain healthy, including Nicklas Backstrom and TJ Oshie, the Caps should smother the B’s tonight.
Now, to the home team. The Bruins are coming off of a very embarrassing loss to the Carolina Hurricanes 7-1 in Boston after retiring Willie O’Ree’s jersey number. Meanwhile, star forward Brad Marchand got into a twitter war with the Canes social media team, after someone compared him with Canes’ forward Vincent Trocheck. It went back and forth and even after the game ended, and let’s just say Brad has made another enemy in the NHL.
Both teams are coming off of losses, so a win could be big for each team. I’m leaning, obviously, with my Capitals. The Great 8 is just too hot, and once again he is taking the NHL over by storm, scoring more points then the best in the world like Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl. The Russian Machine is just too much for the Bruins tonight.
