So I’m in Melbourne, Australia (post coming Wednesday for it) so the time change is fucked up. Regardless, I woke up this morning to the news that Bradley Beal got traded to the Suns for Chris Paul, Landry Shamet, and a bunch of picks.
I don’t pay super close attention to the NBA, but the team I root for is the Wizards. They suck so bad it isn’t even funny, but regardless I gotta root for the home team. I have no clue who their coach is, but I know their best player was Bradley Beal. I don’t hate the trade because ever since they lost John Wall the team has been in limbo. They have just been sitting at the bottom of the league not knowing weather or not they would rebuild or whatever. Trading away Beal makes me feel a lot more hopeful for the future now because it means that now they’ll start to rebuild. They get a ton of picks which means they can get younger players that have talent and will be good for the future. The early reports also show that Chris Paul is probably going to get traded again and the early choice is the Clippers, which is a cool reunion for Paul. That trade probably means more players and more picks.
All in all, it sucks that the Wizards era of Beal and Wall is officially over, but this is good for the future of the team. It means that the GM (and no I don’t know their name) has some sort of plan for how to build this team to maybe start consistently making the playoffs year after year. The east has a lot of good teams so I don’t think they’d make it far in the ‘yoffs but I think that this is a good sign for Wizards basketball.
